Harrisburg, Junio 14, 2022 – The deadline to apply for a property tax or rent rebate has been extended to Diciembre 31st, State Senator Jim Brewster announced today.

Brewster said by extending the deadline, there will be ample time for qualifying seniors or residents with disabilities to apply and receive financial help.

“I encourage eligible seniors who have not yet applied to receive their rebate to please do so as soon as possible,” Brewster said. “This program is a good way to channel funds back to those who need help.”
To be eligible for the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program, a person must be 65-years of age or older, or, if a widow or widower 50-years of age or older, or be a Pennsylvanian with disabilities earning less than $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters. When calculating income, half of social security is excluded. The maximum rebate is $650 for most homeowners.

Harrisburg – Feb. 19, 2015 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny) said today that seniors can get assistance completing Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms at any of his three local offices.
“My staff is ready to help seniors file their Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms,” Brewster said. “Seniors can call my offices to see if they are eligible to receive help from this program that offers rebates on their paid property taxes or rent.”
The Property Tax and Rent Rebate program is administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and benefits Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; people with disabilities age 18 and older; and widows and widowers age 50 and older. The income limit for owners is $35,000 while the income limit for renters is $15,000, and half of social security income is excluded.
According to the Department of Revenue, the program has returned $5.6 billion in property tax and rent relief since its inception in 1971.
Brewster’s local district offices are located in Monroeville, McKeesport and New Kensington.

“My staff is trained and prepared to help seniors file their Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms,” Brewster said. “I encourage all eligible seniors to take advantage of this vital program that provides a rebate on their paid property taxes or rent.”
