McKeesport, PA, Noviembre 21, 2024 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny) today announced awards of 285 laptops for non-profit community organizations in the 45th District.

The PA Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) met to make the awards from the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP) to community institutions to help connect Pennsylvanians who lack digital technology.

“I am pleased to announce these laptop awards to ensure our community members have the internet access needed for better health, education, and economic outcomes,” said Senator Brewster. “Programs like this are helping Pennsylvanians get connected and bringing us closer to making ‘internet for all’ a reality.”

The following grants were awarded in the 45th Senatorial District.

  • Greater Valley Community Services, Inc. in Braddock was awarded 75 Laptops;
  • Living in Fulfilled Excellence in Monroeville was awarded 150 Laptops; and
  • The Dragon’s Den in Homestead was awarded 60 Laptops.

The DCTP is administered by the PBDA which awards laptops to eligible public-facing institutions such as libraries, municipalities, workforce training organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and other community anchor institutions located in areas where affordability has been identified as a barrier to broadband adoption and use who will then make them available to individuals who lack the technology needed to access the internet.
