Brewster Legislation Gains House Approval

State Sen. Jim Brewster’s legislation naming the ramp off of the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge to State Route 148 for Officer Frank Miller Jr. has been unanimously approved by the House of Representatives and now heads to the governor for his signature into law.

“I am thankful that the House moved my legislation in honor of Officer Miller and I am hopeful that the governor will sign the measure into law,” Brewster said. “The naming of bridge ramp for Officer Miller will serve as a reminder of his sacrifice.”  Continue reading →

Pennsylvania Hunting Licenses On Sale Now

deerState Sen. Jim Brewster announced today that hunting and fur-taker licenses for Pennsylvania’s 2014-15 seasons are on sale now.

Licenses can be purchased through the Pennsylvania Automated License System website, as well as at Game Commission regional offices.

Licenses can also be purchased through more than 600 issuing agents; a list of issuing agents is available on the Game Commission’s website.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate Application Deadline Extended

Property Tax/Rent Rebate Property Tax/Rent Rebate State Sen. Jim Brewster announced today that the deadline for older Pennsylvanians and residents with disabilities to apply for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program has been extended from June 30to December 31.

“This deadline extension is great for those who have not yet applied for this tax rebate,” Brewster said.  “It provides all eligible individuals the opportunity to take advantage of this valuable tax rebate program.”

The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters. Half of Social Security income is excluded.
