Sen. Brewster Elected Vice Chair of Budget and Finance Committee

McKeesport, January 24, 2013 – State Sen. Jim Brewster has been unanimously elected vice-chairman of the bipartisan, bicameral Legislative Budget and Finance Committee.

“I am pleased with my new position on this important committee that helps foster legislative efficiency, accuracy and accountability,” Brewster said. “I see this as an opportunity to better measure the performance of state programs and services, streamline expenditures and establish reliable baseline accuracy for much of the research that drives legislative debate.”

Established in 1959, the 12-member committee conducts studies, makes recommendations aimed at eliminating unnecessary expenditures; promotes state government efficiency; and assures that state dollars are being used in accordance with legislative intent and law.  Continue reading →

Sen. Brewster Reappointed as Chair of McKeesport Housing Authority

McKeesport, January 21, 2012 – State Sen. Jim Brewster, who serves as the Democratic chair of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, has been reappointed as Chairman of the Board of the McKeesport Housing Authority.

“I am pleased and honored to continue my service as chair of the housing authority board,” Brewster said. “There are so many issues to address and so much work yet to do.

“We have had great success in developing new initiatives and formulating solutions because the board works together to solve problems. That is a credit to the dedication of the board members and those who are served by the programs offered by the authority.” Continue reading →
