McKeesport – June 3, 2020 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) today released a statement decrying racism. He emphasized that there is a need to address social justice issues in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who died while in police custody in Minneapolis.

Brewster’s statement follows:

“We must eradicate racism in any form, in any place, and address the underlying social injustices that continue to plague this country.  Our efforts must be centered on addressing the root causes of despair and fear and ensure that all citizens are safe and secure.

“George Floyd’s death was a tragedy. It should have never happened.  We need to move forward quickly, do away with policies and practices that cause social injustice, resolve longstanding problems, heal wounds and unify.”
