McKeesport – April 20, 2020 – Nearly $160,000 in federal funding has been approved for the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, state Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) said today.

The federal CARES Act included $10 billion in funding for airports across the United States.  The airport will receive $157,000 in grant funds.  Greater Pittsburgh International Airport is slated to receive $36,066,209 in grant funds.

“The Allegheny County Airport is a vital link in the transportation network serving the region,” Brewster said.  “The new airport pandemic response funds will be available to help the airport prepare and respond to regional transportation needs.”

Brewster serves as a member of the Senate Transportation Committee and the Port Authority Board.  He has been active in promoting new road, bridge, mass transit and Mon-Fayette Expressway funding among other projects.
