Harrisburg – Feb. 19, 2015 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny) said today that seniors can get assistance completing Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms at any of his three local offices.

“My staff is ready to help seniors file their Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms,” Brewster said. “Seniors can call my offices to see if they are eligible to receive help from this program that offers rebates on their paid property taxes or rent.”

The Property Tax and Rent Rebate program is administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and benefits Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; people with disabilities age 18 and older; and widows and widowers age 50 and older. The income limit for owners is $35,000 while the income limit for renters is $15,000, and half of social security income is excluded.

According to the Department of Revenue, the program has returned $5.6 billion in property tax and rent relief since its inception in 1971.

Brewster’s local district offices are located in Monroeville, McKeesport and New Kensington.
