McKEESPORT, Sept. 2, 2011 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) today announced a $36,710 state recycling grant for Allegheny County.

The grant will be used to reimburse half of the county recycling coordinator’s salary and expenses.

“I am encouraged by the success of the county’s recycling program,” Brewster said. “It’s a plus for our environment and the county.”

The grant will be administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection under the Recycling Performance Grant Program of Act 101, which was established in 1998.

The recycling grant program is intended to give incentives to communities in Pennsylvania to promote recycling.
