Brewster: Free Flu Shot Clinics Available in Allegheny County
Harrisburg, Oct. 1, 2013 – Residents of Braddock, Clairton, Duquesne and McKeesport can receive flu vaccines free of charge at a variety of times and locations throughout the next three months, said state Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland).
“Getting a flu shot is a great way to protect your health this season,” Brewster said. “I urge people to choose a convenient time and location to take advantage of this free service.”
Vaccines will be provided to residents ages 18 or older on a first-come, first served basis. Pregnant women are not eligible to receive vaccines.
The flu clinics are a community initiative of the Mon River Fleet, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, State Health Improvement Partnerships and local emergency medical services.
“Community health organizations are doing everything they can to make sure people stay healthy during the flu season,” said Brewster. “I hope people in these communities attend one of the free clinics to help prevent the flu and ensure public health this year.”
